What happened to ABS-CBN?

In September 1972, the government of Ferdinand Marcos closed down any non-state broadcast services. ABS-CBN went off the air, as its studios were taken over by networks run by Marcos allies. When Marcos was deposed in 1986, the network was sequestered and returned to the Lopezes. The network went back on the air on September the same year.

Do ABS-CBN shows still exist today?

None exist today except for the shows that began airing in 1986 when ABS-CBN reopened during the People Power revolt. Fortunately, a few minutes of ABS-CBN shows staged in 1969 were found from ABC New York. They were taken by veteran broadcast Ted Koeppel's team while covering former Philippine Pres. Ferdinand Marcos's 1969 presidential campaign.

Where is ABS-CBN headquartered?

The network is headquartered in ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center, Diliman, Quezon City. On May 5, 2020, ABS-CBN was issued a cease-and-desist order by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida, after the NTC refused to renew the network's franchise license earlier in February 2020.
